Urban Meyer will be the new head coach at Ohio State, according to anonymous sources cited by ESPN.

Ohio State is expected to announce the hiring this morning and hold a news conference in the afternoon, several news outlets reported.

Meyer has a 104-23 career record over 10 seasons with Bowling Green, Utah and Florida. He won two BCS national titles with the Gators before stepping down a year ago because of health concerns and a desire to spend more time with his family.

Meyer has worked as a college football analyst at ESPN this season.

If ESPN’s sources are correct, Meyer will be taking over for interim coach Luke Fickell, who took the helm after Jim Tressel was forced to resign nearly six months ago because he was embroiled in a tattoo-parlor scandal involving then-Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor.

Under Fickell, the Buckeyes completed a 6-6 season with a 40-34 loss to Michigan on Saturday.
