Joshua Smith isn’t one to hold back.

The UCLA sophomore center gave USC fans the middle finger last season, called the Sports Arena ‘terrible’ and then labeled Loyola Marymount ‘straight bums’ after the Bruins dropped their opener to the Lions on Friday night.

Tweeted Smith after collecting five points and four rebounds in only 16 minutes during UCLA’s 69-58 defeat: ‘Just lost to some straight bums lol.’

Smith has since apologized for his latest outburst.

On his Twitter account, Smith tweeted, ‘what I said wasn’t smart and was bad sportsmanship. i apologize for the comment i made yesterday. we lost to a team that just outplayed us.

‘ ... Lol and people who follow me please if u read my tweets dont make your own assumptions.. that tweet was a joke and got blown way out of proportion.

‘ ... But you live and learn everyday and i have learned from this small incident now the only thing to do now is get better and bring a pac-12 ship back to westwood.’

UCLA next plays Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday at the Sports Arena before departing for Hawaii and the Maui Invitational. Wonder what adjective Smith might use for the Blue Raiders.
