Tim Tebow fans rejoice: The Denver Broncos have waived quarterback Kyle Orton.

Orton lost his starting job to Tebow after the Broncos opened the season 1-4. He hasn’t played since Oct. 9.

Orton will be subject to waivers. If a team claims him, it will have to pay what remains of his $9-million salary. If he’s not claimed, he’ll become a free agent. This sets up a possible return to Chicago, where Orton once played. The Bears are in need of a quarterback after starter Jay Cutler broke his thumb.

Orton was acquired in 2009 from the Bears for Cutler and won his first six starts in Denver before going 6-21 and losing his starting job.

The Kansas City Chiefs may also be looking for a quarterback in light of Tyler Palko’s struggles. Another possible suitor is the Houston Texans, who are without Matt Schaub and have former USC star Matt Leinart as their primary quarterback.
