The Angels will interview Kim Ng for their general manager’s job, ESPN reported Wednesday.

Ng would become the first female general manager in the major leagues. She previously has interviewed for the GM’s job with the Dodgers, Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres.

Angels owner Arte Moreno might have hinted at Ng in an interview last week in which he outlined his criteria for a GM.

‘I think you want a good baseball man — or should I say baseball person because there are some qualified women out there — because you want to be able to evaluate talent,’ Moreno told the Orange County Register in his only interview since the ouster of former GM Tony Reagins.

Ng currently works in the baseball commissioner’s office. She worked for the Dodgers for nine seasons, as an assistant general manager under Dan Evans, Paul DePodesta and Ned Colletti. She previously worked for the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.

The Angels also are believed to be interested in interviewing Arizona Diamondbacks executive Jerry Dipoto and New York Yankees executives Billy Eppler and Damon Oppenheimer.
