Upon further review, UCLA unhappy with Pac 12’s rivalry footage

UCLA football has a 1-0 record … against the Pacific 12 Conference.

UCLA athletic department officials -- at the urging of a small fan website -- asked the conference to remove a video clip of USC’s drum major planting a sword in the UCLA logo at the Rose Bowl.

The clip was a couple seconds long as part of a “sizzle” reel highlighting the conference rivalries. UCLA and USC are still considered rivals.

“I felt the clip was inappropriate and expressed my displeasure to Pac-12 officials,” UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero said.

Conference officials, with much larger issues currently on the table, agreed to pull the clip and will reedit the video. It will be reposted at a later date.

A conference spokesman said the video was pulled “out of respect for UCLA.”

UCLA was the only school in the conference’s that took issue with the video.

No word on whether a request has also been made to have USC’s victories over UCLA expunged from the conference record book.
