Some notes from the Kings and Ducks as they prepare for their rookie camps and training camps next week:

Restricted free-agent defenseman Drew Doughty is not expected to attend the Kings’ Fan Fest, to be held Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Staples Center. Since he’s not signed he’s not obligated to attend promotional or other team functions, and he’s not on the participant list the Kings sent out Thursday.

His absence should add spice to the first event, “State of the Kings,” a scheduled two-hour session that will include a question-and-answer session with General Manager Dean Lombardi. That should be interesting, to say the least.

Lombardi said Thursday through a team spokesman that he and Doughty’s agent, Don Meehan, have agreed not to comment publicly about the negotiations. However, it doesn’t appear that an agreement is imminent.

The Hockey Fest event is sold out, but portions of it will be streamed live at Lakings.com.

The Kings also said Thursday that strength and conditioning coach Tim Adams had left the club to “pursue other opportunities.”

The Kings announced their roster and practice schedule for their rookie camp at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Camp will begin on Saturday and end Tuesday, to be followed by a two-game rookie tournament at El Segundo against the Phoenix Coyotes’ prospects. Practices are open to the public but there will be a charge of $10 for each of the rookie games, Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Thursday at 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Kings Care Foundation. Here’s the schedule for the Kings’ rookie camp

Saturday: Practices from 10 a.m.-noon, 4-5 p.m.
Sunday: Practices from 10 a.m.-noon; 4-5 p.m.
Monday: Practices from 10 a.m.-noon; 4-5 p.m.
Tuesday: Practices from 10 a.m.-noon; 4-5 p.m.

Fans can attend but must RSVP at rsvp@beachhousepr.com.

Also on Monday the Ducks will bring in patients from Children’s Hospital of Orange County to join selected season ticket holders in a “paint the ice” event that will apply the faceoff circles, red line and blue lines to the Honda Center ice.

The Ducks will hold a rookie camp at Anaheim Ice from Monday through Friday but it won’t include any scrimmages and won’t be open to the public.

The entire team is scheduled to play in the Ducks’ annual golf tournament Wednesday at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, to benefit the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. Some spaces are open. Information is available at Anaheimducks.com.
