Marisa Dal Santo didn’t do anything to wow the crowd Saturday afternoon. But by keeping it simple instead, she put together an 88.00-point run, good enough for gold in the women’s skateboard street event at the X-Games.

In the process, Dal Santo pulled a minor upset over Brazilian Leticia Bufoni who struggled all afternoon to execute her big finishing trick – a kick flip over a gap in the middle of the street course. Bufoni finished in third with a 78.00-point run.

The trick of the afternoon went to Dal Santo’s friend Alexis Sabone, who propelled herself to a second-place finish with a kick flip that turned into frontside 50-50 grind onto a long rail. It was a trick she said she hadn’t performed in practice, and when she executed it in her third run she was rewarded with 84.33 points and a silver medal.

Silver Lake’s Vanessa Torres and Huntington Beach’s Amy Caron couldn’t get it going, and both failed to advance to the final.
