UCLA football: Cornerback Anthony Jefferson to have minor surgery

UCLA cornerback Anthony Jefferson will undergo minor back surgery on Monday and is expected to be out four to eight weeks, according to a person familiar with the situation but is not authorized to talk about injuries and asked for anonymity.

Jefferson, a redshirt freshman, has suffered from back pain caused by a disc injury. He will sit out for two weeks before beginning rehabilitation. This is the second injury for Jefferson, who played in three games last season before breaking his left foot.

With Jefferson out, UCLA has only four cornerbacks on scholarship who have game experience. A boost may come from Jamie Graham, who played three seasons at Vanderbilt. Graham, who has one year of eligibility remaining, is expected to enroll in graduate school at UCLA and be immediately eligible.

UCLA freshman quarterback Brett Hundley will undergo surgery Wednesday to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
