Tiger Woods announced on his website late Thursday afternoon that he will return to the PGA Tour next week at the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, ending an 11-week break to heal injuries to his left leg.

On his Twitter account, Woods said he is ‘feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!’

The 11 weeks off marks the third-longest layoff of his career. Along with questions about the strength of his left knee and his Achilles’, he embarks on this latest comeback with a new caddie. Woods has plunged to No. 21 in the world rankings -- his lowest ranking since Jan. 26, 1997.
