While parts of the city were crumbling around them after a riot broke out after the Vancouver Canucks’ loss to the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals, one couple decided it was time to show some affection. The result? The above picture is sweeping across the Internet faster than a video of a cat playing the piano. At first, photographer Richard Lam, who works for Getty Images, thought the woman was hurt and the guy was helping her out -- that is, he says, until they started making out.

“They were in no-man’s land,” he told the Vancouver Globe and Mail. “I don’t know how they got there.” With the police using tear gas and pepper spray, he was eventually pushed back down the street. “There were a lot of crazy people out there, let me tell you.”

The photo has reminded some of the iconic image of the American sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square in the midst of victory celebrations in August 1945, when World War II was declared officially over.

Lam said he eventually lost sight of the couple in the confusion. “There was a lot going on,” he said. So if you are out there, let us know.
