With left-hander Jonathon Niese starting for the New York Mets on Sunday, Peter Bourjos is back in center field for the Angels for Sunday’s interleague series finale. Bourjos made a spectacular catch and drove in the winning run with a double Friday but was replaced in the lineup by Bobby Abreu in Saturday night’s 6-1 loss at Citi Field.

Tyler Chatwood, the Angels’ 21-year-old right-hander, will look to rebound from the June 12 loss to Kansas City, in which he gave up five runs and five hits and walked three in 3 2/3 innings. Niese is 4-1 with a 1.58 earned run average over his last six starts since May 18.

The Angels were held to one run or less for the 20th time this season Saturday night, and they have been held to three runs or less in 12 of the last 16 games.

‘Our issue is when we get pitches to hit, we’re not squaring them off, we’re fouling them off,’ Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said. ‘Right now, we’re just really missing some pitches we should be putting in play hard, and that leads to counts where you don’t get as good a pitch to hit, and that can lead to some strikeouts.’

The Angels lineup: 3B Maicer Izturis, SS Erick Aybar, RF Torii Hunter, LF Vernon Wells, 2B Howie Kendrick, 1B Mark Trumbo, CF Peter Bourjos, C Jeff Mathis, P Tyler Chatwood.

The Mets lineup: SS Jose Reyes, 3B Justin Turner, RF Carlos Beltran, 1B Daniel Murphy, CF Angel Pagan, LF Jason Bay, C Josh Thole, 2B Ruben Tejada, P Jonathon Niese.
