Where'd they go? A list of about two dozen ex-Mater Dei basketball players who've transferred once in college
Since 1982, when Gary McKnight was hired as basketball coach at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, nearly two dozen ex-Monarchs have transferred from their original Division I college teams. Although Mater Dei has been a national powerhouse for decades and McKnight says about 140 of his players have earned major-college scholarships, it’s still an unusually high percentage.
Here is a list of the players I found who had transferred. In parentheses is the year the players graduated from Mater Dei. The only person on this list I know didn't graduate is Schea Cotton, who transferred in and out of the school. I've been told there may be more players who've transferred, and if you know of any, please email me the details at [email protected]
