Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts fractures arm
The Galaxy will have to go a few more games without its starting goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts. Ricketts suffered an arm injury early in Saturday’s scoreless tie at San Jose. X-rays on Monday revealed a fractured left ulna.
Ricketts will have surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss four to six weeks. Fortunately for the Galaxy, the MLS All-Star game falls toward the end of that span, therefore probably sparing the team an extra game or two without Ricketts.
Ricketts had missed the three previous Galaxy games because of Jamaican international duty. Josh Saunders filled in admirably in those three games, giving up three goals.
Ricketts has played in 12 games this season, yielding only six goals. He is the reigning MLS goalkeeper of the year.
