Outfielder Torii Hunter has appeared in all 76 of the Angels games this season, but he will sit out Friday night’s game against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium after suffering a rib bruise in Wednesday’s game.

Angels Manager Mike Scioscia said Hunter, who left Wednesday’s game at Florida in the fifth inning after colliding into the right field wall during a catch, will most likely miss a couple of days.

The technical term for the injury is a posterior rib contusion. X-rays taken Thursday were negative. Hunter wasn’t at the ballpark Friday, and Scioscia said he would be evaluated Saturday and could play Sunday.

Because Hunter is sitting out Friday’s game, his streak of hitting safely in 22 consecutive road interleague games will remain intact. Hunter also has the most runs batted in (43) in interleague games since 2009.
