UCLA football: Bruins lose tackle Jeff Baca indefinitely

6a00d8341c630a53ef014e600578e3970c-800wi UCLA lost tackle Jeff Baca for an indefinite period of time after he underwent surgery to repair a fractured ankle.

Baca was injured during an 11-on-11 drill Thursday. He was expected to start at tackle. Stan Hasiak and Connor Bradford filled in Baca’s spot during the remainder of practice.

Baca started 13 games in 2009 but was academically ineligible last season. He also sat out a portion of the fall with a stress fracture. UCLA officials did not know whether Baca would return for the start of training camp in August.
