A new sort of tennis tour, which will feature a one-month, 12-city (including Los Angeles) event and include American legends Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and current Davis Cup captain Jim Courier, will begin next fall.

The official announcement of this new Champions Series tennis event will be made at 11 a.m. May 3 at Staples Center’s Star Plaza. After the announcement, Sampras, Agassi and Courier will play a tennis exhibition.

In addition to Agassi, Sampras, Courier and McEnroe, the U.S. tour will feature Michael Chang, Mats Wilander and Bjorn Borg competing for a prize pool totaling $1 million. Each of the one-night tournaments will feature four champions paired in one-set semifinals, culminating with the winners competing for the title in an eight-game, pro-set championship match.
