Brewers ace Zack Greinke fractures rib playing basketball

The Milwaukee Brewers were shaken on Tuesday when they learned their prize winter acquistion, Zack Greinke, had a fractured rib and was not likely to be ready for opening day.

That was bad enough. What made the situation worse was that Greinke confessed to suffering the injury while going for a rebound while playing basketball.

"It was a lot of fun," Greinke said. "I guess I'll have to stop doing it."

The Brewers said Greinke had a hairline fracture of one rib and a bruise of another. He is expected to sit out two to four weeks to let the injury heal and then be reevaluated.
