March 9, 2011 |  2:57 pm

Guard Dymond Simon scored 13 points and guard Tenaya Watson added nine as third-seeded Arizona State defeated 10th-seeded Oregon State, 50-44, on Wednesday in the Pacific 10 Conference women’s basketball tournament at the Galen Center.

Arizona State improved to 20-9 and will face either California or Washington in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Arizona State led 27-20 at halftime and extended its lead to 15 points before Oregon State began chipping away at the margin.

“We’re really not that comfortable with pulling away,” quipped Arizona State Coach Charli Turner Thorne. “We like to make it interesting.”

Guards Sage Indendi and Alexis Bostick each scored 10 points for Oregon State, which finished the season 9-21.
