Wes Leonard, high school basketball star, died of cardiac arrest

Hoops_400 The Michigan high school basketball star who died shortly after his game-winning shot Thursday had an enlarged heart and suffered cardiac arrest because of the condition, the Ottawa County medical examiner said after Friday's autopsy.

Wes Leonard, a 16-year-old junior who scored more than 1,000 points in his career at Fennville (Mich.) High, collapsed on the floor during the postgame celebration moments after his layup with 30 seconds left in overtime preserved his team's undefeated season.

He was taken by ambulance to Holland Hospital, where he was eventually pronounced dead.
