Rachel Alexandra pregnant, foal expected in 2012

Horses_400 Superhorse is on its way!

(Or at least a horse with quite an impressive pedigree is on its way.)

Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year, has been bred to two-time Horse of the Year winner Curlin and is in foal with an expected due date of Feb. 1, 2012. Stonestreet Farm announced the pregnancy Monday, two weeks after the 2009 Preakness winner was bred to her stablemate.

Owner Jess Jackson has said the two horses could produce a "superhorse."

His wife, Barbara Banke, said it was a "privilege" to breed two of horse racing's biggest names.
