Kia Classic: Omen? Duke's Amanda Blumenherst early leader

Blumenherst_640
Amanda Blumenherst,
a second-year pro from Scottsdale, Ariz., and alumnus of Duke, where she majored in history and English, has an early first-round lead at the Kia Classic in City of Industry.

Blumenherst is six-under par, two shots better than everybody else, so far. Blumenherst is through 17 holes and may be a lucky one as rain is in the forecast for the afternoon.

Sandra Gal of Germany is alone in second place at four-under through 15 holes, and Christina Kim is third  at three-under. Karrie Webb, who has a two-tournament winning streak, is four shots back, at two-under, through 10 holes.
