Lawrence Taylor sentenced to six years' probation [Updated]

Taylor_225 Former National Football League star Lawrence Taylor was sentenced to six years on probation Tuesday after pleading guilty in January to sexual misconduct and having sex with an underage prostitute.

The girl, now 17, attended the sentencing in New York with attorney Gloria Allred, who said her client wanted to read a victim-impact statement. But the judge did not allow the statement, saying victims were allowed to speak only at felony hearings.

[Updated at 10:43 a.m.:The girl, identified only by the initials C.F., spoke to the media after the sentencing, saying Taylor belonged in jail for taking "something precious" from her. She denied being a prostitute and said she had been forced by another man to go to Taylor's hotel room. She also said she felt Taylor could tell she had been beaten and that she was underage.

Allred did not say if her client planned a lawsuit against Taylor.]

Taylor, an NFL Hall of Fame member, also will have to register as a sex offender. A hearing will be held April 12 to determine the level of sex offender the former New York Giants linebacker will be assigned.
