Bruce Pearl reportedly fired as Tennessee coach

Pearl_225 Bruce Pearl has been fired from his position as men's basketball coach at Tennessee, according to an anonymous source who spoke to the Associated Press.

Pearl had been charged with unethical conduct for giving NCAA investigators false information about a cookout at his home attended by high school juniors, a charge he admitted to during a Sept. 10 news conference.

In his six seasons at Tennessee, Pearl led the team to its first No. 1 ranking and first NCAA tournament regional finals appearance, coming one point short of the Final Four a year ago.

The Volunteers' current season ended with a 75-45 loss to Michigan in their opening game of the NCAA tournament Thursday.
