Brad Guzan shines, Clarence Goodson injured in mixed weekend for U.S. soccer stars in Europe and Mexico

With Coach Bob Bradley due to name his roster this week for U.S. matches against Argentina on March 26 and Paraguay on March 29, the form of America’s top two dozen Europe- and Mexico-based soccer players is very much in the forefront.

Here is how they did over the weekend:

Steve Cherundolo (Germany) -- 90 minutes and a yellow card in Hannover 96’s 4-0 loss on the road at FC Cologne.

DaMarcus Beasley (Germany) -- Did not play for Hannover 96 in the above loss.

Brad Guzan (England) -- 90 minutes, 13 saves and a shutout in Hull City’s 1-0 victory at Coventry City.

Edson Buddle (Germany) -- Off the bench for the final 18 minutes of FC Ingolstadt’s 2-1 win at FSV Frankfurt.

Eric Lichaj (England) -- 90 minutes in Leeds United’s 0-0 home tie with Ipswich Town.

Robbie Findley (England) -- Injured thigh, did not play for Nottingham Forest.

Stuart Holden (England) -- 90 minutes in Bolton Wanderers’ 3-2 F.A. Cup quarterfinal victory at Birmingham City.

Ricardo Clark (Germany) -- Played the first 45 minutes for Eintracht Frankfurt in a 2-1 loss at Schalke ’04.

Carlos Bocanegra (France) -- 90 minutes for St. Etienne in its 2-0 home win over Brest.

Jozy Altidore (Turkey) -- 71 minutes for Bursaspor in a 1-1 tie at Karabukspor.

Sacha Kljestan (Belgium) -- 90 minutes for Anderlecht in a 1-1 tie at Eupen.

Michael Parkhurst (Denmark) -- On the bench but did not play for FC Nordsjaelland in a 2-2 tie at FC Midtjylland.

Clarence Goodson -- Sidelined by a broken toe that will prevent him playing for Brondby or in the two U.S. matches.

Jose Francisco Torres (Mexico) -- 90 minutes and a yellow card in Pachuca’s 4-0 home loss to Atlante.

Hercules Gomez (Mexico) -- 32 minutes off the bench for Pachuca in the above loss.

Jonathan Bornstein (Mexico) -- Did not play in UANL’s 1-1 home tie with San Luis.

Oguchi Onyewu (Netherlands) -- 90 minutes in Twente Enschede’s 2-1 home win over VVV Venlo.

Jonathan Spector (England) -- 55 minutes off the bench in West Ham United’s 2-1 F.A. Cup quarterfinal loss at Stoke City.

Maurice Edu (Scotland) -- 90 minutes for Rangers in their 2-1 win over Kilmarnock.

The teams of Tim Howard, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Benny Feilhaber and Marcus Hahnemann were idle over the weekend.
