Sources close to the negotiations said Friday that Carson’s Home Depot Center is positioned to serve as host to a ‘Super Six’ super-middleweight semifinal fight May 14 pitting unbeaten Andre Ward of Oakland versus Germany’s Arthur Abraham.

Ward promoter Dan Goossen and an AEG executive did not comment about the information provided by two sources, who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the talks publicly.

Ward (23-0, 13 KOs) owns a 2-0 record in the Showtime-televised tournament, a November 2009 technical decision over Mikkel Kessler and a June 2010 unanimous decision over Allan Green.

Abraham (32-2, 26 KOS) knocked out Jermain Taylor in the tournament opener, but then was disqualified in a March 2010 bout against Andre Dirrell and lost by unanimous decision to Carl Froch in November.

Dirrell and Taylor have since dropped out of the tournament, helping Abraham to advance.
