PGA Tour rookie Brendan Steele, who was paired with Tiger Woods in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines on Sunday, told Sports Illustrated that he didn’t think Tiger gave 100% during the final round (in which Woods shot a 75).

‘I don’t think he gave it everything today,’ Steele told SI. ‘Once it started going in the wrong direction, I don’t think it had his full attention.’

Wow, a rookie calling out Tiger Woods. This would have been unthinkable before Woods’ recent, uh, personal problems. But even after that, to say the person many consider the greatest competitor in golf history basically gave up, is quite the statement to make.

If I were Steele, I wouldn’t be hoping for another pairing with Tiger any time soon.
