Jerry Sloan out as Utah Jazz coach, reports say
Jerry Sloan, who has coached the Utah Jazz since 1988, will resign Thursday afternoon, according to the Salt Lake Tribune and other media reports
Sloan, 68, had a long meeting with Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor after Wednesday's 91-86 loss in Salt Lake City to the Chicago Bulls. The team has called a news conference this afternoon for a "significant announcement."
The Tribune said assistant coach Tyrone Corbin will be named coach.
Sloan, who also coached the Bulls, has a 1,221-803 career record.
The Jazz, with a 31-23 record, have slipped to sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
