Caroline Wozniacki reclaims No. 1 ranking [Video]

February 18, 2011 |  8:28 am

Days after falling from the No. 1 ranking, Caroline Wozniacki earned her way back into the top spot by beating Shahar Peer of Israel, 6-2, 6-4, in Friday's quarterfinals of the Dubai Championships.

Wozniacki initially replaced the injured Serena Williams at the top of the world rankings back in October. The 20-year-old player from Denmark will officially reclaim the No. 1 position from Kim Clijsters next week when the new rankings come out.

“Of course, it's nice to be back to No. 1,” said Wozniacki, who faces Jelena Jankovic in the Dubai semifinals. “It's a good feeling. I gave Kim one week. Hopefully, now I will have it for a few more weeks.”
