UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel deflected a report on the Internet that offensive coordinator Norm Chow had been let go, saying he has yet to make any decisions about the offensive.

An Internet rumor circulated that Chow was essentially cleaning out his office. UCLA officials immediately denied the report.

A trip to UCLA found Chow’s office occupied by Chow. Photos were still on the wall. Books on the book shelf. And no packing boxes in sight.

Neuheisel said, “I have not made any decisions about the offensive side,” and that he was focusing on filling the defensive coordinator position.

Whether Chow will remain at UCLA remains to be seen. He has two years remaining on his contract at about $500,000 per season. Neuheisel said that money would not be a factor in making necessary changes.

Neuheisel, who already has one position to fill on the offensive staff, said he was looking, “for the right piece to the puzzle. Someone who brings energy. Someone who brings creativity. Someone with passion.” But he said that didn’t necessarily mean a new offensive coordinator. He also didn’t rule out the offensive staff being shuffled, meaning Chow’s duties could changed.

Neuheisel also didn’t rule out bringing in a new offensive coordinator.
