An X-ray on UCLA forward Tyler Honeycutt’s bothersome right elbow was negative, and the sophomore is expected to be in the starting lineup as usual Thursday night when the Bruins play host to California at Pauley Pavilion.

Honeycutt told the news media Tuesday that his elbow was still bothering him about 1 1/2 months after he injured it in the first half of a game against Kansas in which he scored a career-high 33 points.

Honeycutt’s production has dipped dramatically since the injury. He had averaged 17.7 points on 54.8% shooting through the Kansas game; since then, he has averaged 10.9 points on 36.7% shooting.

Honeycutt also injured his right shoulder against Montana State on Dec. 21 but said Tuesday that his shoulder was feeling better. He is taking medication to manage the pain that his elbow is causing him.
