Good goaltending is once again being squandered by the Kings on Tuesday.

Jonathan Quick, like Jonathan Bernier in Dallas Monday, stopped just about everything the St. Louis Blues have thrown at him. Yet, lethargic play early and penalties left the Kings behind, 1-0, at the end of the first period.

The Kings meandered at the start, spending long stretches in their own end. They had only two shots on goal through 13 minutes. Quick was sharp, turning away 11 of 12 shots in the period.

The only puck that got past Quick came with two Kings in the penalty box. St. Louis’ Matt D’Agostini threaded a pass through two Kings’ players to Patrik Berglund, who banged in a shot at the far post 11:56 into the period..
