Goaltender Jonathan Bernier, making a second consecutive start for the first time this season, kept the Dallas Stars off the scoreboard, allowing the Kings to take a 1-0 lead into the dressing room after the first period.

Bernier stopped nine shots, seven on power plays. That included a cat-quick flick of his glove to deflect a back-hander by James Neal on one of the Stars’ three power plays.

The Kings took the lead when Justin Williams circled in from the left and flicked the puck through the crease and off Dallas defenseman Nicklas Grossman, who was tangled up with Ryan Smyth.
