Golden Boy Promotions Chief Executive Richard Schaefer said Wednesday that he has finalized a Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez-Matthew Hatton fight on HBO at Honda Center on March 5 and is nearing other interesting agreements.

The ‘Boxing After Dark’ card featuring box-office attraction Alvarez and Ricky Hatton‘s brother is poised to include a super-featherweight bout between Cincinnati’s unbeaten Adrien Broner (19-0, 16 knockouts) and Daniel Ponce de Leon (41-2, 34 KOs), Schaefer said.

Broner is currently in Las Vegas, serving as a sparring partner for unbeaten junior-welterweight Devon Alexander.

Meanwhile, Schaefer said he is nearing another HBO doubleheader deal for April 16 that will feature a junior-welterweight title defense by Amir Khan in England against either Lamont Peterson or one of two Brits, and an Andre Berto-Victor Ortiz welterweight title bout, possibly at Home Depot Center in Carson.

‘It’s Berto’s call where he wants the fight, but I think it’s coming to the West Coast,’ Schaefer said.

On Thursday, Schaefer is scheduled to meet with world lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez to discuss the boxer’s interest in fighting Mexico legend Erik Morales on April 9 in a pay-per-view bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
