There is the fear that women’s tennis will lack any personality once Venus and Serena Williams leave the sport for good. What will we talk about when there’s not wide-eyed amazement at Venus’ fashion creations and Serena’s bombastic game and behavior?

Well, it’s time to meet, really meet, top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki, a 20-year-old from Denmark (pictured above) who has had the (mostly) good sense to let Stella McCartney design her tennis dresses and the good grace to not grumble when she is questioned about whether she is deserving of being ranked No. 1 in the world even though her resume doesn’t include a major tournament title.

But Thursday at the Australian Open, Wozniacki let her true personality loose. She had taken note that some international media members had made Twitter comments decrying her lack of personality, at least as displayed during interviews with the media.

Here’s a transcript that should give you a good laugh.

Wozniacki started out her session by saying, ‘They said my press conferences were kind of boring. Yeah, that I always gave the same answers. You know, I find it quite funny because I always get the same questions.’

Touche, Caroline.

And good to meet you. Now about that No. 1 ranking? We’ll save that question for later.
