Angels sign three to minor-league contracts

The Angels signed three players to minor-league contracts and invited them to spring training. The players, all of whom figure to provide depth at triple-A Salt Lake: catcher Kevin Richardson, 30, and utilitymen Kevin Melillo and Gil Velazquez.

Melillo, 28, played second base, third base and all three outfield positions at triple-A Indianapolis last season. Velazquez, 31, has played all four infield positions, left field and even pitched one inning over the last three seasons at triple-A Pawtucket.
