USC Coach Lane Kiffin, after the Trojans’ 28-14 win over UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Saturday:

‘First off, I’m very happy for our fans. This has been a long season and a long offseason. They have gone through a lot. A lot of stuff that had nothing to do with them. Obviously, we didn’t play as well as we would have liked many times, but to finish off this way is obviously always big for our fans and this city. And obviously for our seniors. I’m just really proud of our players. Our guys stepped up.’

Asked if the win helped overcome the disappointment of the season overall:

‘It helps. It’s still a disappointment. If you look back, there were so many games that we should have won. So many games that we just handed away. We finish third in the conference and there is some good to that, but obviously that’s well below our standards.’

About quarterback Matt Barkley:

‘I think as you saw, obviously we couldn’t do much with him outside of the pocket. Obviously, he wasn’t going to scramble and make any plays. He limited our game plan. You could tell he was off. It was good to have him back there in just the sense to have your starting quarterback in the huddle. But obviously he was rusty.’

Geez, that was a LOT of obvious stuff.
