USC lost its second defensive tackle in a week, Coach Lane Kiffin saying Friday that reserve Hebron Fangupo would transfer to Brigham Young.

‘[Fangupo] made a family decision to transfer and walk on at BYU,’ Kiffin said in a statement on the school’s website. ‘We wish him and his family the best, and we appreciate his participation in our program.’

Fangupo, who is 25 and married, transferred to USC from Mt. San Antonio College in 2009. He suffered a broken ankle in the fourth game and was sidelined the rest of the season. In 2010, Fangupo made four tackles in seven games.

He has one season of eligibility remaining.

Fangupo’s departure follows the exit of Jurrell Casey, who announced Tuesday that he would skip his final year of eligibility and make himself available for the NFL draft.
