Popular junior-middleweight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez of Mexico is poised to fight next at L.A. Live’s Nokia Theatre, the boxer’s promoter said.

Alvarez is coming off a one-sided unanimous decision over Lovemore N’dou on Saturday in Mexico, and the 20-year-old entered to roaring applause in Staples Center when he defeated former world welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir in September.

Promoter Richard Schaefer said HBO and L.A. Live owner AEG have expressed interest in an Alvarez bout in February; Schaefer said he’s targeting a date against Matthew Hatton, Ricky’s brother.

The plan is to reconfigure the boxing seating at the Nokia, Schaefer said, inserting as many as 700 additional bleacher seats on the facility’s stage, where the ring sits.
