Auburn passed Oregon for the top spot in Sunday’s final regular-season Associated Press poll, while Oregon retained the No. 1 position in the USA Today coaches’ index.

The fluctuation will have no impact on Oregon meeting Auburn for this year’s Bowl Championship Series title game on Jan. 10. The two schools are expected to be No. 1 and No. 2 when the final BCS standings are released Sunday.

The AP is no longer part of the BCS formula but still crowns an independent champion, and it can be expected that the Auburn-Oregon winner will also earn the AP’s national title.

The AP top 10 is Auburn, Oregon, Texas Christian, Wisconsin and Stanford, followed by Ohio State, Michigan State, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Boise State.

The coaches’ top 10 did not change from last week: Oregon, Auburn, TCU, Wisconsin and Stanford, followed by Ohio State, Michigan State, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Boise State.
