Ducks sign Randy Carlyle and David McNab to one-year extensions

The Ducks have signed Coach Randy Carlyle and senior vice president of hockey operations David McNab to one-year contract extensions, the team announced Tuesday.

Both extensions run through the 2011-12 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Carlyle was named the seventh coach in team history in August 2005 and led the Ducks to four straight postseason appearances from 2005-09, including the Stanley Cup championship in 2007. The Ducks have the third most playoff victories (34) in the NHL since Carlyle’s tenure began.

“Randy has done a terrific job for us over the last six seasons,” said Bob Murray, the Ducks’ executive vice president and general manager. “His record speaks for itself and we are pleased to have him leading our club going forward.”

McNab is in his 18th year with the organization and 33rd in the NHL. He was the assistant general manager of the Ducks for 14 seasons before becoming senior vice president in November 2008.

“David’s longevity with the organization speaks to his character, talent and unwavering commitment to the team,” Murray said. “He’s a critical part of our hockey operations staff and will continue to be in the future.”
