Ducks right wing Joffrey Lupul, cleared by team doctors to play, has been activated off the long-term injury list.

Lupul, whose last game for the Ducks was on Dec. 8, 2009, is eligible to play in tonight’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes. As detailed in an article by Times staff writer Mike DiGiovanna on Friday, Lupul endured two back surgeries and a blood infection during his long road back.

Also Sunday, the Ducks reassigned right wing Dan Sexton to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League.

In the meantime, check out the birthday cake (photo above) that Scott Niedermayer’s wife, Lisa, made for Cam Fowler, the Ducks’ rookie defenseman who turned 19 on Sunday. Fowler is living with the Niedermayers.
