Ducks, Rangers swap minor league defensemen

Ducks-logo The Ducks acquired defenseman Nigel Williams from the New York Rangers on Tuesday in exchange for defenseman Stu Bickel.

The 22-year-old Williams has played in 12 games with the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliate in Hartford, Conn., this season, recording one assist and two penalty minutes.

Selected in the second round of the 2006 NHL draft by the Colorado Avalanche, Williams has recorded 42 points in 138 career AHL games. The 6-foot-4, 226-pound Williams was traded to the Rangers in 2009.

Bickel has appeared in six games with the Ducks ' AHL affiliate in Syracuse, N.Y., and in one game with Elmira (N.Y.) of the ECHL this season.
