The Angels shuffled three coaching jobs Wednesday, promoting bullpen catcher Steve Soliz to bullpen coach and replacing him with minor league catching instructor Tom Gregorio.

Orlando Mercado, the bullpen coach since 2003, replaces Gregorio as the roving catching instructor.

The Angels also announced that Adam Nevala had been promoted to replace Ned Bergert as head athletic trainer. Bergert was dismissed after 36 seasons in the organization. Nevala had been an assistant athletic trainer with the Angels.

The Angels confirmed previous reports that Rob Picciolo would be the new bench coach -- replacing Ron Roenicke, who left to manage the Milwaukee Brewers -- and that former Angels shortstop Gary DiSarcina had rejoined the organization as a special assistant to General Manager Tony Reagins.

DiSarcina talks about his new job here.
