World Series Game 3 update: Giants, Rangers scoreless after first inning

Rangers

The Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants both threatened in the first inning but neither scored in World Series Game 3 at Rangers Park in Arlington.

The Rangers' Michael Young hit a one-out single against San Francisco starter Jonathan Sanchez that Giants' left fielder Pat Burrell couldn't catch despite a diving try. A struggling Josh Hamilton then popped out and Vladimir Guerrero hit a deep fly to left but Burrell caught it near the wall.

The game opened with the Giants' Freddy Sanchez hitting a one-out single against Texas starter Colby Lewis. After Aubrey Huff flied out, Buster Posey walked to put runners on first and second base. But the right-handed Lewis struck out Burrell to end the threat.
