Vladimir Guerrero, who made two errors in right field in Game 1 of the World Series, is on the bench for Game 2. The Texas Rangers will play Nelson Cruz in right field and David Murphy in left, and they will await Game 3, so they can return Guerrero to the lineup at designated hitter under American League rules in force in Texas.

As batting practice begins, three hours before game time, the skies of San Francisco are cloudy. There had been some concern about a possible rainout, but the latest forecast shows nothing worse than light showers during the scheduled game time.
