Jonathan Byrd nearly didn’t get a shot at the fourth extra hole in the three-man playoff at Sunday’s Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

He barely avoided the water and managed a par putt to stay in the running on the third playoff hole. Then he and the other two players -- Martin Laird and Cameron Percy -- discussed whether it was too dark to continue. They agreed to play one more hole.

This is what happened next:

His ball landed about 10 feet short of the hole on the 204-yard 17th at the TPC Summerlin and then rolled the rest of the way for a hole in one. It was so dark, a stunned Byrd had to ask his caddie: ‘Did that go in?’

Moments later, after Laird and Percy both hit their shots into the water, it was all over.

‘I’m in shock,’ Byrd said.
