Santa Anita President George Haines said Wednesday that the Arcadia track is close to a consensus agreement with trainers, owners and the California Horse Racing Board on the composition for a new dirt track, and that he hopes an announcement could come later this week.

Santa Anita is in the process of removing its Pro-Ride synthetic surface. Haines said this week’s rainy weather has not affected the schedule for putting in a new surface.
