The San Francisco Giants shuffled their lineup for Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, benching center fielder Andres Torres and third baseman Mike Fontenot.

Juan Uribe, who sat out Game 2 because of a sore wrist, returns after an MRI examination revealed nothing more serious than inflammation. Uribe moves from shortstop to third base, where he becomes the third player to start at that position in the Giants’ seven playoff games.

Edgar Renteria starts at shortstop, with Aaron Rowand replacing Torres in center field. Torres, who has three hits and 12 strikeouts in 25 postseason at-bats, will be replaced as the leadoff hitter by Renteria.

Cody Ross, who has emerged as a folk hero in San Francisco, with four postseason home runs, bats fifth. Ross opened the playoffs as the Giants’ No. 8 hitter -- and would have opened the playoffs on the bench had Jose Guillen not had a sore neck.
