Some postgame notes from the talented Jeremy Zager, the Kings’ supervisor of communications and broadcasting:

*Both wins by the Kings (2-1) this season have come in games they trailed after the second period. Last season the Kings won eight times when trailing after two periods (tied for second-most most in the NHL).

*Ryan Smyth, who had two goals and an assist Tuesday, now has 158 career multi-point games (39 three-point games). He is also 10 games from 1,000 in his NHL career.

*The Kings have killed 13 of 15 penalties so far (86.7%). One of those power-play goals was scored into an empty net.

*Prior to Tuesday’s game, the last time the Kings had won their home opener at Staples Center was 2006-07 against St. Louis.

*The Kings are now 22-13-8 all-time in home openers.

*Jarret Stoll (1-1=2) and Justin Williams ( two assists) had multi-point games.

*Dustin Brown had eight hits Tuesday night. He also had eight hits Saturday in Vancouver.

*Defenseman Willie Mitchell -- who earned his first point as a King with the second assist on Stoll’s goal -- played a team-leading 24 minutes 47 seconds.

*The Kings are three home wins away from 800 in the regular season.

The Kings are scheduled to practice Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
