As expected, the Kings put goaltender Erik Ersberg on waivers Monday, a day after they told him he had been beaten out by Jonathan Bernier for the backup job behind Jonathan Quick.

Also placed on waivers was rugged left wing Richard Clune. He fell on the depth chart with the emergence of Kyle Clifford. He played six minutes and 36 seconds in the Kings’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks Sunday in both teams’ finale exhibition game and had no points and a minus-one defensive rating in three exhibition games.

The waiver period will expire at 9 a.m. PDT time Tuesday.

John Zeiler, who was placed on waivers last week, cleared waivers and was assigned to Manchester of the American Hockey League.

Kings executives were supposed to meet Monday to discuss final roster decisions. We’ll keep you posted.
